In May, GovEx celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the federal Digital Accountability and Transparency (DATA) Act, the country’s pioneering open data law. This groundbreaking, bipartisan legislation mandated an unprecedented level of transparency in federal spending, standardizing more than $6 trillion in annual spending data across over 100 federal agencies. 

In a June 3 op-ed in Governing, GovEx Executive Director Amy Edwards Holmes, who played a crucial role in the passage and implementation of the DATA Act, reflected on that process as a model for additional bipartisan government reform.
