GovEx Executive Director offers Congressional testimony on preparing for AI in public workforces
Last month, GovEx Executive Director Amy Edwards Holmes was asked to submit testimony to the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation on the importance of preparing public sector workforces to adopt and adapt to artificial intelligence in the public sector.
Holmes’ testimony highlights the transformative potential of AI and stresses the crucial role of a data-literate workforce. The testimony outlines a four-pronged approach to developing a data workforce plan: assessing data and AI knowledge, building core data skills, recruiting diverse data talent, and sustaining a data-driven culture. Holmes shared insights from the Baltimore Data Academy, a training initiative in collaboration with the City of Baltimore and more.
