Last week, GovEx senior leaders welcomed a delegation of disaster recovery experts from Indonesia as part of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
Coordinated by the World Trade Center Institute, a Maryland-based organization that works to “empower globally minded leaders from the Mid-Atlantic with ideas and connections to drive growth and global good,” IVLP connects international leaders from government, academia, and civil society with American counterparts to foster mutual understanding and collaboration.

The Indonesian delegation included leaders from the Indonesian Red Cross Society, Syiah Kuala University, and the Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Center. During the visit, GovEx talked about the role of data and emerging technologies in public-sector decision making. GovEx Interim Executive Director Latricia Boone, Chief of Staff Rudy de Leon Dinglas, Director of Research and Analytics Sara Bertran de Lis, and Deputy Director of Research and Analytics Mary Conway Vaughn shared a range of tools and resources GovEx has developed or supported, including the Coronavirus Resource Center, a real-time dashboard of pandemic data that became the world’s most trusted COVID-19 surveillance tool.
The teams also discussed how cities are using generative AI to enhance service delivery and manage crises.
